I'm Entitled to a Title So... I'VE GOT ONE!!!

I'm wearing my happy face!

Last week I finally found out what the powers-that-be at Harlequin's digital-first imprint, Carina Press, were going to name my holiday steampunk romance.  I was a bit nervous, thinking that while my editor knew the project, a whole group of people who haven't read it might not "get" the overall vibe going on with my story.  After all, I took a little walk on the wild side and made the female MC a daring, ingenious cat burglar, when that's usually a role left to the male MC.

Would they get it?  Would they understand?  Heh.  You tell me.  The title for my steampunk holiday romance is *drumroll*:

Squeeee!  They took this title from direct dialog!  So, yeah.  I'm thinking they understood the vibe, and decided to run with it.  It's going to be out December 6th of THIS YEAR, and I'm already through the first round of edits.  Next up will be figuring out the cover art.

Hmmm.  With a title like that, I wonder what the powers-that-be will decide to put on the front of this latest book?  Could it be... a corset??? :D

  1. I love it! Great title. Can't wait to see the cover.

  2. *waves at Christine* I was sweating this one, I'll admit it. ^_^ I turned in the cover-art form a couple weeks ago and wow, was it intensive. You know, I think those forms are harder to fill out than writing the blasted book! :P

  3. That is an awesome title! And even more awesome that they paid attention to the story itself to get it!

  4. It's a great title. I love the hint of alliteration, and it definitely feels steampunkish. Happy days!

  5. *hugs Michelle* I think I caught a lucky break on that one. When Angela told me a retitle was coming up, I was PRAYING they'd choose CWiaC (small sacrifices might have even occurred... maybe. :P)

Hi, Jenny! I LOVE your retitle job for the holiday Steampunk -- WANTED: ONE SCOUNDREL. *fans self* I'm telling you, that's just the sort of title that trips my trigger. Be prepared for me to bug you for details here, on your site, on FB and on Twitter! (I'm nosy that way ^_^) Oh, and P.S. I liked the original title -- Support Your Local Suffragette. Makes me want to make a placard and picket for my rights! :D

  6. I love the word suffragette -- but there's no getting away from it, a scoundrel is irresistible! as for bugging about story details ... I am soooo curious about everyone's stories. Steampunk is so varied -- great fun!

  7. I think this is such a great title, Stace-and I remember the dialog now that you mention it--I love when they use that. And I can't WAIT to see your cover art!

  8. FANTASTIC. I love it already~ :D And that's a great picture! Best~

  9. Hey Stacy,
Gonna start recording this today! Love the characters. Can you let me know when you have a cover - will post on my Facebook pages, etc.
